Welcome
The Start Fund Hackathon: Accelerators, Advisors & Mentors
Tuesday, August 4, 4:00 PM Pacific Time (US & Canada)
About the Event
WE WANT TO BACK THE FUND YOU'RE ALREADY QUALIFIED TO RUN
You've spent years in the room where it happens. You've advised the founders, mentored the teams, run the cohorts, and made the introductions that turned ideas into companies. You've generated returns for other people's funds through your dealflow and judgment.
Now it's time to capture that value yourself.
This hackathon is built for the people who already sit at the center of startup ecosystems: accelerator leads, program directors, startup advisors, and mentors who have the network, the dealflow, and the pattern recognition to invest, but haven't yet formalized it into a fund.
You don't need to build an audience. You don't need to source deals from scratch. You already have what most first-time managers spend years trying to acquire. Over two working sessions, we'll help you turn it into a Start Fund.
What We'll Build Together:
What We'll Build Together:
- Session 1 - Tuesday, August 4th at 10am PT - Turning Your Portfolio Access Into a Thesis: Translate your accelerator pipeline, advisory relationships, and mentorship network into a clear, defensible investment thesis and a target company list you can act on immediately.
- Session 2 - Thursday, August 6th at 10am PT - Converting Your Network Into Commitments: Map the founders, LPs, and fellow operators already in your orbit into a soft-commit pipeline, with a concrete path to your first $150K in commitments.
- Session 3 - Tuesday, August 1th at 10am PT - Closing Your First Commitments: Move from soft interest to signed commitments, with proven scripts for the ask, tactics for creating urgency, and a plan to reach your first close.
Why Accelerators, Advisors & Mentors Have the Edge
Most emerging managers start with a thesis and go hunting for dealflow. You have it backwards, in the best possible way. Your dealflow, founder trust, and market visibility already exist. A Start Fund simply lets you invest alongside the companies you're already helping, on terms that reward the value you create.
Whether you want to launch a fund tied to your accelerator's cohorts, a sector fund built on your advisory expertise, or a community fund backed by the founders and operators who already trust you, this program moves you from idea to execution fast.
The Offer
Eligible Start Funds that close during the quarter will receive a $10,000 investment from Decile Group. We're not here to teach you the theory. We're here to help you launch, because we want to back the fund you're uniquely positioned to run.
Who This Is For
Accelerator and incubator leaders, program directors, startup advisors, mentors, and ecosystem builders who have real dealflow and founder relationships and are ready to formalize them into an investment vehicle. Also relevant for anyone who has been the connective tissue in a startup community and wants to start earning like an investor, not just contributing like a volunteer.
This hackathon is for people ready to launch, not just learn.
